I Build Ramps!
Working with the AMBUCS Team has been an amazing experience.
Bill McHie and his crew are an inspired group. They have helped me to learn to value how I can give back to the community.
Every time I build a ramp, I'm amazed at how much each ramp changes people's lives. It’s an extremely rewarding feeling.
I still remember the first time I built a ramp. It was an evening in February, and it must have been 20 degrees. Despite the cold, we pressed on. I'm sure I complained multiple times about my numbing toes.
When the ramp was finished, and the lady's husband, for whom we built the rampstepped out of the house and onto the ramp, I realized just how much the cold was worth.
Both of them could not have been more grateful. You see, her husband had been in a bad accident. The accident left him paralyzed from the waist down. The ramp we built on that cold February evening was the only way he would be able to get into and out of the house and we, as a team, made it happen.
Cool!
It gives me a really great feeling to know that simply two to four hours out of my day can completely change someone’s life.
Not only do I enjoy that feeling, but the people I work with are just fantastic. They make it fun and a learning experience as well.
I am proud to say that I’ve been a part of this experience for about two years.
AMBUCS consists of everyday people who strive to make someone’s life just a little bit easier, just a little bit better. I am so very grateful to have been a part of this organization.
I want to thank Bill McHie and the entire AMBUCS organization, for making this learning opportunity available to me.
I'll never forget it.
