Diversity Project Wyoming Diary-Monday

On Monday, after an awesome breakfast, we were instructed on riding by our wranglers and then met our horses. Despite the fact that many had never ridden, our students looked comfortable in the saddles, so the wranglers took us out for a short ride with magnificent views. I found taking photos while on horseback to be challenging, and the wrangler had to retrieve my lens cap once during the ride.
In the afternoon, we took another ride, and I ended up jumping off my horse, after it began bucking. Fortunately, I suffered only minor injuries, and I am really relieved I didn't bring my camera on that ride. In the evening, the students built telescopes and observed different things from different viewpoints. They also had a discussion on freedoms and how our freedoms are interconnected to others. The discussion topics for Monday included *How do our comfort zones affect the freedoms of others? *There can't be trust without balancing control. |
