Diversity Project Wyoming Diary-Tuesday

On Tuesday morning, we woke up to rain. Our trainers, Janet and Peter quickly reworked our schedule for the day. After breakfast, the students were each given instructions to find a "secret treasure" on the ranch. Some instructions were vague, and some even insisted there was no treasure. After students returned from their hunt, some with no treasure, some with different treasures, Janet and Peter led the students in a discussion of different religions. By lunch, the weather was sunny, and in the afternoon, we went white water rafting. I learned that although the best place to take photos is the front of the raft, you also get soaked there. Fortunately, my disposable camera survived the trip.
After dinner, we went to the Cody Rodeo. Our wranglers teased me about participating in the bucking bronco category after my fall the day before. As the picture below shows, there are worse ways to fall off a horse than the way I did.
Jake, one of our students, participated in the calf scramble. Despite losing a shoe in a collision with another scrambler, he kept up a good effort chasing the calves.
